Prenatal Visit

Prior to the birth of your child, you may have a goal in mind about how long you want to breastfeed. Maybe you've had a previous negative experience with breastfeeding or have been told that breastfeeding might be hard for you. Preparing yourself and your family for a successful breastfeeding journey can make all the difference in achieving your goals and desires. This visit we will discuss any possible road blocks you may experience, review tips and tricks for the first two weeks after the birth of your newborn, and create a personalized plan for a successful, smooth postpartum process.

Phone & Email Support

Unlimited access to support via e-mail and phone calls are free for 2 weeks after your inital or follow-up consults. Virtual visits are also available by phone, Skype or FaceTime.

Inital Consult Visit

This visit is an up to 2 hour long one-on-one consult to assist you and your family through whatever breastfeeding-related challenges you may be facing. This visit will be personalized to your own needs, includes a review positioning and latching, and includes an observed feeding with pre- and post-feed weights. 2 weeks of unlimited follow-up support via phone, text, and e-mail will be available to you after the visit. We will provide you with a care plan and visit summary after your visit. With your permission, we will also provide your baby's pediatrician, your primary care doctor, and/or your OB/GYN or Midwife with information they may need to continue helping you.

Follow-Up Consult

For those that have been seen for a initial visit, follow ups in your home are available to continue care and the process of creating a positive journey. Personalized to your needs, we can create a plan of action prior to the visit and proceed in creating a well developed care plan for the future.

As Lactation Consultants, We Do Not:

Diagnose medical issues

We will provide referrals to medical or dental physicians when a diagnosis is necessary.

Push you into any choice

Your body, your choice. We want to assist you in making your journey as smooth and positive as possible. We will never make you feel as though you must breastfeed and will support you in any choice that you feel is best for you or your family.

Virtual Visits

Available via Skype, FaceTime, or phone call.

Patient and Physician reports

With your permission, reports of care plans and visit summaries will be sent to your physicians as needed. Most pediatricians strongly prefer to have any information on outside services that their patients are receiving. We strongly recommend/prefer to communicate your other providers when appropriate. This enables all of us to provide you and your baby with the best care possible.

Bottle Feeding Transition

For many breastfeeding families, bottle feeding can be a great way for the non-breastfeeding parents to bond with their new baby. Occasionally, introducing a bottle to an exclusively breastfed baby can be a difficult process. Our goal is to help this be a successful, non-traumatic experience for both the child and parents.

Community Referrals

Referrals to other providers and services can be made to complete the care your child may need. Dental, medical, and other holistic health care referrals in your community will be provided if necessary.

Tongue Tie Evaluations/Post-Frenotomy Consult

If you suspect that your child may have a tongue tie, but you're receiving conflicting advice on how to treat it, we are able to evaluate your baby and recommend a course of treatment that's agreeable to you. This may include solving problems that are unrelated to the tongue tie, giving referrals to other providers for correct diagnosis, or teaching you non-invasive therapies that can be done to your baby at home. A post-frenotomy consult will help us ensure that the problem is resolved. It also allows us to spend time teaching your baby how to feed correctly with their new tongue mobility.

Promote formula

We are not allowed to promote formula use due to the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes. However, we will recommend temporary or long-term formula use if it's medically necessary. If this is the case, we can assist you in choosing a type of formula.

Project any of our own beliefs onto your experience

All cultural, religious, and personal preferences will be protected throughout our time working with you. If you require specific accommodations during your visit, please make us aware so we can make every effort to create a respectful, safe experience.
